Indian tennis legend, Leander Paes, on Saturday won the mixed doubles finals at the US Open tennis championship. this was the 42-year-old player’s ninth grand slam title in mixed doubles, beating his former doubles partner, Mahesh Bhupati’s record of eight grand slam titles.
With nine Grand Slam mixed doubles titles, Paes is now only behind the legendary Martina Navratilova, who has won 10 mixed doubles titles.
Seeded fourth, the pair of Paes and Martina Hingis defeated unseeded Americans Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Sam Querrey 6-4 3-6 10-7 in a tricky final to win their third Major title together this season.
