LUCKNOW: Light to moderate rains or thundershowers occurred at a few places over eastern Uttar Pradesh, while heavy rains occurred at isolated places in the past 24 hours in the state.

 Balrampur and Iglas recorded 9 cm of rain, Bahraich 7 cm, Maharajganj 5 cm, Kakrahi, Bansi and Gorakhur 4 cm each, Fatehgarh, Regoli, Sidhauli, Khalilabad, Kaisarganj, Etawah and Muzaffarnagar 2 cm each, the Meteorological (MeT) office said.

The highest maximum temperature over the state was 39.7 degrees Celius, recorded in Allahabad.

 Rains or thundershower are very likely at most places over eastern Uttar Pradesh on Monday, the MeT said.

A Lucknow court has issued a non-bailable warrant against suspended Bharatiya Janata Party leader Dayashankar Singh. Singh was suspended last week for six years, after he made derogatory remarks about Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati. BSP members had then filed a case against Singh, who has been missing since the incident last week.

Singh’s wife Swati had alleged that BSP members were harassing her and her 12-year-old daughter after the incident. She also filed an FIR against the BSP chief for “mental trauma”. On Sunday, BSP cadre called off protests that had begun after Singh said Mayawati was “worse than a prostitute”, with regard to her allegedly selling party tickets ahead of the Uttar Pradesh elections.

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Singh Yadav on Saturday assured that it is the priority of his government to see that the benefit of all proposed schemes reach the people.

“It is priority of the government to see that all schemes meant for the villagers and other people, reach them,” Yadav told media here after reviewing law and order in the state at a meeting here.

“The Panchayat elections are about to be held and we are trying to ensure that all security measures are in place. It should not be the case where development works are hindered because of these elections,” said Yadav.

“Action would be taken against all those who are guilty of not properly doing their duties,” he added.

Lucknow (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday assured perusal on all aspects on Shiksha Mitra. Akhilesh said the SP government shall do everything in its capacity to find out a solution to the problem of 1.5 lakh appointments revoked by Allahabad High Court and urged the Shiksha Mitras not to protest. The HC’s decision led to a suicide of a Shiksha Mitra in Kannauj on 14th September. He was identified as Babu Singh of Usri village in Thatia police circle. Although no suicide note was recovered, but his family members claimed that Singh, who was serving as Shiksha Mitra at Jankhat Primary Schoool in Usri, was hopeful of becoming an assistant teacher. He went into depression after news channels showed news about the high court decision.

Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav may once again display his capability of doing the flip he is well known for in national politics. Party sources say the SP is all set to put up “dummy” candidates on 50 seats in the Bihar Assembly poll which would ultimately help the BJP which is facing a tough challenge from the “maha-gathbandhan” (grand alliance) of backward leaders Lalu Prasad Yadav and Nitish Kumar with the Congress.

SP national general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav’s meeting with BJP president Amit Shah on Monday – just two days after Mulayam met PM Narendra Modi – has fuelled speculation that the SP could well deliver a jolt to the alliance it was originally supposed to join. The meeting between Ram Gopal, known to be the party’s “think tank”, with Shah was a hush-hush affair and became known through sources only on Wednesday.

Lucknow: The ongoing tussle over the appointment of Lokayukta in Uttar Pradesh intensified Tuesday with Governor Ram Naik refusing to accept the name of Justice (retd) Ravindra Singh for the post, as recommended by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.

Stating that he was not bound to accept the recommendation, Naik returned the file asking the state government to send a name “except (that of) Justice Singh” at the earliest. Singh had demitted office last month as judge of the Allahabad High Court.

This comes three days after the CM, after taking legal opinion from Advocate General, principal secretary (Law) and Legal Remembrancer, recommended Singh’s name for the fourth time citing that Governor was bound by the advice of the council of ministers, which had cleared the name earlier this month. US Ambassador to India Mr. Richard R. Verma called on the UP Chief Minister Mr. Akhilesh Yadav at his official 5, Kalidas Marg residence. During the meeting the visiting dignitary expressed desire to further strengthen and take forward bilateral relations with India, specially Uttar Pradesh and he added that many industrialists in the US were keen to invest in the state. In this context he also sought information for US investment in key sectors. The Chief Minister told Mr. Verma that the state offers immense potential for investors and the state government had rolled out many investor friendly policies which facilitate and assist entrepreneurs. He further pointed out sectors like agriculture, agro-processing, solid waste management and infrastructure development as key sectors where US investors can come to Uttar Pradesh. Mr. Yadav also assured the US Ambassador of all possible cooperation and support from his government. During the meeting Mr. Verma said that his country would help developing Allahabad as a smart city and that very soon a US delegation would come to the state and discuss with officials to take this forward. Mr. Verma also sought information on priorities of the state government to which the Chief Minister said that the government was working towards improvement and strengthening of the infrastructure and industry while also taking care of the welfare of the weaker and marginalized sections of the society. The US ambassador lauded the state for initiating infrastructure projects like the Agra-Lucknow Expressway and the Lucknow Metro Rail.

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to name the Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU) in the name of former President APJ Abdul Kalam.

The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Akhilesh Yadav said that the late president had immense affection with the state and very recently he inaugurated the 250 kilowatt solar power plant in the Kannauj district.

“I have been greatly impressed by the farsighted thoughts and principals of Kalam. During his recent visit to the state he had given nine formulas for the economic and social development of the state and we are seriously working on it”, Yadav said.

The UPTU which now be known as APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (APJAKTU) was earlier renamed as Gautam Budha Technical University (GBTU) by Mayawati during her last regime in the state.


Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. Akhilesh Yadav has said that the state government has taken a decision to form an inter-departmental committee for community housing projects to assimilate new technology, in consonance to the recommendations made by the Building Materials and Technology Promotion Council. This committee would be formed from the executing agencies and departments related to building construction. The Chief Minister highlighted these points in a letter written to Union Urban Development, Housing and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mr. M. Venkaiah Naidu. The Chief Minister also underlined how the inter-departmental committee would review and inspect buildings in various states with regard to the Council’s recommendations on technology. The committee would also give its recommendations with regards to assimilation of techniques in building construction related department, development authorities and Housing and Development Board. Mr. Yadav also informed the union minister that various development authorities and the Housing and Development Board builds on priority EWS/LIG houses. The committee, with this in mind, would also review on whether the new technologies were more cost-effective than the conventional methods of construction. Based on the recommendations of the committee the state government would take a decision as warranted, which would then be implemented by all agencies involved in building construction/private builders. It may be pointed out here that the Union Minister had written to the UP Chief Minister with regards to assimilation and adoption of new technologies as recommended by the Council.
